about
It began as a midi track on logic. I sat down at my computer one afternoon and decided to write something on keyboard instead guitar for once, and the words just started pouring out of me, as if some entity was feeding it to me. Based somewhat in reality but culminating into a concoction of my dreams, desires, regrets, failures and fantasies; Puttin’ It Off is the simple epiphany of a battle between the ego and the higher self. We’ve got a life to live; why aren’t we living it, and will we ever make it to kingdom come?
This is the type of music I was always meant to write, but didn’t actualize until 10 years into writing songs. That laid back, roll down your windows and cruise into the sunset type vibe - an echo from an era of music that was more care-free and natural, not shiny and perfect.
As a society, we’ve gotten away from our selves. This song is a summoning back to our higher calling, back to what is important in life; while all the distractions of the outer world try to beat us into submission.
lyrics
Nina’s in the back with her mind made up
we should get to heaven with a little luck
57 chevy or a pickup truck
just keep me on top, keep me on top
I was never good at playin rainbow road
cheap thrills are boughten and cheap thrills are sold
moving like molasses in the afternoon
me and my girl will get to heaven soon
but I keep putting, putting it off
pour a glass of wine and let the universe
take its damn time with the human curse
fables are forgotten feeble and rehearsed
digging that dirt, digging that dirt
angels and devils in a hurricane
washing me clean of every sin I’ve made
Hollywood’s calling every ball and chain
try to keep sane, try to keep sane
but I keep putting, putting it off
do we ever make it to kingdom come
with all that I’ve done its not enough
